Momentum Mirror II

This statement mirror’s unique form is based on a motion-sketch that tracks the artist’s body in movement. Like traditional East-Asian ink calligraphy, the shape of Twist Mirror is derived from a single line created from the artist’s body in motion. Twist Mirror serves as a visual example of the artist’s novel method of using the momentum and centripetal force captured in motion-tracking to create biophilic forms. These motion-tracked forms reflect the East-Asian cultural belief regarding the interconnectedness between humans and nature and serve to satisfy our biophilia - our innate need to feel close to nature.

Its gentle undulating curves are hand-carved with a sensitivity to detail that comes from the artist’s background in fine art. Momentum Mirror II is hung on the wall using a custom designed metal hanging plate.
